Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American distribution rights to Cognitive, the psychological horror thriller from writer-director Evan Richards. The film will debut on October 3, 2025 across all major digital platforms in the US and Canada following a limited theatrical release beginning September 26, 2025.
The lauded suspense feature has already gained momentum on the festival circuit, winning multiple awards, including the Audience Award for Best Feature at Another Hole in the Head and a Special Jury Award at the long-running WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
Cognitive stars Rachel Fleischer, Nina Brissey, Ratidzo Mambo, and Adam Courtin, with special appearances by Rachel’s father Charles Fleischer—best known as the voice of Roger Rabbit, as well as memorable turns in David Fincher’s Zodiac and Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street—and Diana Darrin—star of The Broken Land with Jack Nicholson, and known for roles in classic films, like The Incredible Shrinking Man and the Academy Awardâ-winning Marty, and appearances in the later short films of The Three Stooges.
Cognitive producers include Richards, Darrin, and Christopher Blackwell. Richards’ feature debut, In A Day, was distributed by IFC Films.
A supernatural Hitchcockian thriller that keeps the audience guessing until the final frame, Cognitive tells the story of Alisha, who encounters a strange and mysterious couple forcing her to think she may not be who she thinks she is.
“Gravitas Ventures is very pleased to partner with NW3 Films on Cognitive. Audiences will be hooked from the very first scene by this supernatural thriller that features several twists and turns throughout the film. After receiving recognition and acclaim at various festivals, we are eager to see Cognitive reach new viewers through streaming and cable VOD,” says sales manager Kevin Scheid.
The film is currently available for pre-order on Apple TV here.
