ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service, announced today that production of the second season of its hit original series MUJERES ASESINAS has started in Mexico City.

Starring in the eight episodes of the new season of the acclaimed Mexican series are Carolina Miranda, África Zavala, Litzy, Tessa Ia, Carolina Ramírez, Sofia Espinosa, Elyfer Torres and Ariana Saavedra.

The first season of MUJERES ASESINAS ranked as the highest-rated ViX Original* series, and its second installment of stories will have even greater impact. The new episodes of MUJERES ASESINAS will continue to tell the stories of women of completely different backgrounds, but with one similarity: they were cornered to make the worst decision of their lives, to kill. Life experiences like domestic violence, humiliation and manipulation are part of their stories.
“The second season of the award-winning anthology will carry on the legacy of success of previous chapters and will become an audience favorite, not only because of the renowned actresses who will bring complex characters to life, but also because of the outstanding writers and directors who are part of the series,” said Vicenzo Gratteri, Senior Vice President, Development at ViX.
Produced by Plétora Productions, the second season of MUJERES ASESINAS was written by renowned screenwriters Alicia Luna and Marisa Grinstein, the author of the book of the same name that has provided the basis for the making of more than 100 original episodes. Kenya Márquez, Pepe Castro and Carlos García Agraz are the directors, and Francisco Casasús Fernández, Rafael Cuadros Valle and Luis “Luisillo” Miguel are the executive producers.
“The stories of ‘Mujeres Asesinas’ are based on real events. They are backed by major investigative journalism, and we had the honor of having Marisa Grinstein, who visited several prisons in Mexico, tell these stories alongside ViX. The idea behind telling them is to stop what is happening in our country, to try to end the abuse of women, who are the centerpiece of our society,” said Francisco Casasús Fernández, executive producer.
ViX offers more than 75,000 hours of on-demand content and more than 100 streaming channels, all in Spanish. The app offers two levels of access, one free with ads and a premium one with a subscription, in the U.S., Mexico and most Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, on all major mobile platforms, connected TV devices and online at vix.com.
